“Culture and Media Art Center: Urban Requalifacation, Digital Inclusion, and Digital Culture Difusion in Downtown District Luz”

The idea of the workshop was to investigate the possible role of digital communication in social inclusion and to respond to a demand for this kind of cultural activity in Sao Paulo. Students from Barcelona and Porto Alegre took part in this activity to contribute with the exchange of culture and ideas.
The project was conceived by our team with the vision that the city has its own intricate flows, during which digital communication could be a public element of interaction, taking place in all levels: underground, street level or up high on buildings. Interface could either exist in simple during artistic interventions or even architecture itself, by new forms, spaces and surfaces, in the people’s way to work, home or leisure.

“Centro de Cultura e Arte Midiática. Revitalização urbana. Inclusão digital. Disseminação da cultura digital.”
O workshop propôs-se a investigar o possível papel da comunicação digital na inclusão social e responder a uma demanda existente por este tipo de atividade cultural em São Paulo. Estudantes de Barcelona e Porto Alegre participaram da experiência, contribuindo com a troca de informações, idéias e cultura.
O projeto foi concebido com a visão de que a cidade tem seus fluxos intrincados, gerando dinâmicas próprias e complexas, durante as quais a comunicação digital poderia ser um elemento público de interação, podendo acontecer nas diferentes cotas da cidade: térrea, subterrânea e aérea. Sua interface existiria desde intervenções artísticas ou na arquitetura propriamente dita, em novas e inusitadas formas, espaços e superfícies, no caminho das pessoas para a casa, trabalho ou lazer.
